In order to encourage the comfortable flow of information, we need to agree on
some standards for this Community. We want you to be an active and valuable
part of the discussion boards, so we respectfully ask you to adhere to the following
rules of conduct:
1. Be Pleasant: In this Community, we're representing ourselves with our
words. Our posts should be friendly in both our language and tone.
- Profanity and abusive language are
completely out of bounds.
- Agree to disagree respectfully. You
can challenge others' ideas without attacking them personally.
- Avoid "shouting" (typing
with ALL CAPS!).
- Do not infringe on the rights of
others by using threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasion of privacy or
publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, divisive or otherwise objectionable
activity or language.
- Do not conduct yourself in such a
way that restricts or inhibits any other member from using or enjoying the
Livingsoft Northwest Community.
2. Content:
You are responsible for whatever you post on these
discussion boards. Here are some protective guidelines:
- Avoid posting any copyrighted
material. This includes full lyrics of songs, etc., unless you have
permission from the owner or unless allowed under fair use.
- Let's keep the Community a
discussion area—not a marketplace. To protect the integrity of the
discussions in this Community, we cannot allow you to promote, sell, or
give away products or services, even if free. This also means soliciting
or fund-raising of any kind is prohibited, even for good causes. The only
exceptions to this that will be allowed are for those products and
services specifically authorized by Livingsoft Northwest.
- Avoid advertising and spamming
(sending unsolicited e-mail) to people who visit these message boards.
- Harvesting of e-mail addresses is
prohibited.
- Each participant in these boards is
responsible for not spreading viruses or sending objectionable content
through e-mail to other participants.
- Posts that appear argumentative,
sarcastic or divisive may be deleted without discussion.
- Please don’t copy the same post to
another area of the Community.
- While it is preferred that community
members provide links to personal or preferred Web sites within the
appropriate areas in their MySpace profile pages, you are free to post a
link to your Web site in the Community, provided that you are not offering
a commercial service or for profit venture and you do not repeatedly and
excessively post the same link over and over again on the forums within
the Community.
- All posts are subject to the review
of Livingsoft Northwest. We reserve the right to remove any post for any
reason. Please note that moderation of forums (conducted by enlisted
volunteers through Livingsoft Northwest) may include moving posts to the
appropriate area if misplaced, "featuring" particularly
interesting or popular posts, removing posts from view if inappropriate or
if they detract from a guided discussion, or copying posts to other
relevant areas.
3. Take Care:
The Internet is a public place, so protect yourself by
not posting personal contact information (phone numbers, addresses, etc.) You may
choose whether or not your e-mail address is visible in your personal profile
(a MySpace option), but displaying your address is not required.
- Stay away from secrets or other
confidential information.
- Never represent yourself as someone
you're not.
4. Use Caution:
These discussion boards are not monitored in real time,
but as we learn of a problem, we may take steps to correct it. Help us by
e-mailing violations of our guidelines to our community
administrators. If you have to report something, please include a
link to the post, if possible, and the name of the forum in which the problem
resides. This will give us the ability to take action quickly.
5. Participation: Participation in these discussion boards may be suspended
for any member at any time for behavior that:
- Violates these posting guidelines or the Discussion Board Terms of
Service.
- Is threatening or abusive to any individual member of the discussion
boards.
- Is threatening or abusive to the companies whose products are discussed
here.
- Is threatening or abusive to any employees or staff of the companies whose
products are discussed here.
