When you choose the hat or purse you wish to make, you will first see pictures of what it can look like, descriptions of where this style is appropriate and what it might go with.

To the left is a measuring illustration that you can use to get the few measurements you will need to get the perfect fit. Also to the left are some options you can set to make this hat or purse truly distinctive. Wider brim, taller peak, deeper pockets, a wider flap - there are many settings that let you customize your hats and purses to just the way you like them.

When you have made your option choices, draft the pattern and see what it will look like. Every pattern piece is produced, including pieces for stiffener panels, and all of the other parts and pieces that you might need. Here again, you might alter some of your settings just to see how the pattern can be varied and tuned to perfection. Print the pattern when you are satisified.

Then, it's time for the assembly instructions. Designer Kaaren Hoback has produced lavishly illustrated, detailed instructions, with cross-references to techniques, glossaries, and hints and tips to make your project better than you could have imagined. Each step in the construction and assembly process is described in detail, so both experienced hat makers and those trying their first hat project can be equally successful.
