     Carolyn Brown


Carolyn Brown has been using Dress Shop since 1998. Because the patterns fit, Dress Shop has opened a whole new world of sewing for her. She lives in Austin, Texas and hosts a user group for those in the central Texas area.

She has all the LivingSoft programs and enjoys pushing the software to its limits to create garments that are a little bit different. Besides sewing, Carolyn teaches classes in machine embroidery software. The two programs can be combined to create unique garments..

Carolyn started sewing doll clothes by hand as a young child, then progressed to real garments for herself. She has two grown daughters and two grandchildren. Dress Shop allows her to sew for family members as well as for herself.

Fringed Jacket

I saw a jacket with similar lines and challenged myself to create it in Dress Shop. The original was made of high quality heavy-weight wool with a loopy fringe attached. Mine is more casual, being made of looper fleece. The underarm seam is open, except for a 2 1/2 inch seam.

Nightgown

Where can you find a pretty nightgown for an elderly (or any age) woman?  In Dress Shop, of course.  A little creative thinking is all it takes.

I designed this nightgown for my mother, age 88. She wanted something pretty - not trendy, not sexy, and not a t-shirt – in other words, something in a style similar to what she has always worn. I didn’t want facings and I didn’t want to bind the armhole edges. Dress Shop and Fashion Designer had exactly what I wanted - a lined yoke with soft gathers above the bust.
